As the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic approaches, National Geographic Magazine is unveiling, in their April 2012 edition, new photographs that provide a greater understanding of what happened on that fateful day, April 15, 1912.
Ethereal views of Titanic's bow (modeled by Stefan Fichtel) offer a comprehensiveness of detail never seen before.
Two of Titanic's engines lie exposed in a gaping cross section of the stern. Draped in "rusticles" - orange stalactites created by iron-eating bacteria - these massive structures, four stories tall, once powered the largest moving man-made object on Earth.
The view from above.
As the starboard profile shows, the Titanic buckled as it plowed nose-first into the seabed, leaving the forward hull buried deep in mud--obscuring, possibly forever, the mortal wounds inflicted by the iceberg.

Victorian Portraits Turned into Super Heroes Trading Cards
LA-based artist Alex Gross takes photographic images of antique Cabinet cards and then repaints them into portraits of pop culture personalities like Aquaman, Bride of Frankenstein and Godzilla. His work will be exhibited at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York City next month, so if you’re in town, stop by and support a great geek artist.

Women of the Future, According To 1902
Generals, marines, lawyers, coach drivers, politicians, and even artists! These were “Women of the Future,” as imagined in a series of 20 French postcards from 1902.
Several if not all of the pictures seem to mock the idea of women entering the professional sphere, but this was only one year before Marie Curie shared the Nobel Prize in Physics, so perhaps there was a bit of cultural intimidation at play here.

15 Famous Photographs Recreated In Lego
The recreation of events have been achieved in many media formats from photographs to movies but in this post, we showcases something a little different. Each of these Lego setups recreates a famous scene, yet are just as easy to recognize as the original piece, showing that Legos are just as culturally relevant to adults as they are to kids.
